Plush pony sales to benefit The First Tee
Wells Fargo’s plush pony promotion is back — pony fans can buy Mike, the 2016 horse, and help The First Tee® empower America's youth.
Wells Fargo’s plush pony collectibles are back with Mike, the 2016 horse. From Nov. 28 to Jan. 31, the company is donating $10 of every 18-inch pony sold using a special hotline to The First Tee® sports program that empowers youth.
“With this year’s plush pony promotion,” said Wells Fargo Chief Marketing Officer Jamie Moldafsky, “we’re able to bring additional financial support and awareness to The First Tee — and its success boosting academic performance and producing other positive outcomes for youth.”
Through programs offered on golf courses, schools, and youth centers in all 50 states and select international locations, The First Tee offers lessons on golf and life skills that reinforce values like integrity, respect, and perseverance. The program reached more than 4.7 million children ages 5 to 18 last year.
“We are thankful for Wells Fargo’s ongoing commitment to the young people throughout this country,” said Joe Louis Barrow Jr., chief executive officer of The First Tee. “The donation from pony sales will help us positively impact more young people by training coaches across the country to seamlessly deliver our golf and life skills curriculums.”
The donation from Mike plush pony sales to The First Tee builds on Wells Fargo’s support of the nonprofit’s work. This includes $1 million that Wells Fargo has pledged to donate from 2015 through 2020 (as one of The First Tee’s national trustees) and the Succeeding TogetherSM community program, which Wells Fargo and The First Tee have offered to young golfers since 2009.
The Succeeding Together program offers golf clinics at The First Tee chapters associated with PGA TOUR stops. It also runs a national essay contest to celebrate mentorship; the grand prize winner gets to join his or her favorite golfer on the links in the Wells Fargo Championship Pro-Am.
Plush pony history
The annual plush pony promotion began in 2003 and honors horses that played an important role in getting business done for Wells Fargo customers by pulling wagons and stagecoaches. The 2016 plush pony, Mike, honors the horse that drove Martin L. Miller’s express wagon through the streets of Des Moines, Iowa, in the late 1880s.

The donation to The First Tee is based only on ponies bought through the Wells Fargo Pony Order Line. See plush pony program options below for ways to get one of the collectibles this holiday season.
Plush pony program options
Below are four ways to get a Mike plush pony:
- Receive a free plush pony by meeting with a banker for a financial review during the promotional period (Nov. 28 to Dec. 31). Use the Wells Fargo locator to find the branch nearest you.
- Redeem Wells Fargo Go FarTM Rewards for Mike, while supplies last.
- Call the Wells Fargo Pony Order Line at 800-842-3222 and order a pony, while supplies last, from Nov. 28 to Jan. 31 to help The First Tee. Ponies are $19.99 each plus tax and shipping — limit three plush ponies per person. Note: The Wells Fargo Pony Order Line is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays — except Dec. 23 and Dec. 30, when the hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time. The line is closed Dec. 24, Dec. 26, Dec. 31, and Jan. 2.
- Visit a Wells Fargo History Museum store and buy one in person. Go to the Wells Fargo History Museums site to find the museum nearest you.
