My high school guidance counselor was the first person to suggest a career in journalism. This was during the post-Watergate era, when investigative journalism was the rage. So off to Iowa State University I went, writing all sorts of stories on that old yellow carbon-copy paper, on a manual typewriter, with the traditional #-30-# at the bottom! More than 30 years later (with newspaper and corporate communications gigs along the way), here I am.
