Painting honors Birmingham church bombing victims
Wells Fargo commissioned a 17-year-old student at the Alabama School of Fine Arts to create a painting to honor four young girls who died in the bombing of Birmingham’s 16th Street Baptist Church in 1963.
Seventeen-year-old Willie Williams received an intimate history lesson about the 1963 Birmingham, Ala., church bombing at the 16th Street Baptist Church. “I understand those freedoms I have now didn’t come free,” he says.
Wells Fargo asked him to create a painting honoring the four young girls who died.
